Ny|lon ['naɪlɔn; Kunstw. aus engl. no run (= keine Laufmasche) über anagrammatisch Nuron, Nulon u. Nilon], das; -s, -s (nur für N.-Strümpfe); veraltetes Syn.: Carothers-Seide:
1) urspr. Warenzeichen für ein aus Adipinsäure u. Hexan-1,6-diamin durch Polykondensation hergestelltes Polyamid (PA 66);
2) heute amer. Gattungsbez. für ↑ Polyamide aus aliphatischen Monomeren.
